Re-vamped Knowle Fun Run gives more choice

Solihull Editorial 28th Apr, 2017   0

RUNNERS are being called upon to pull on their running shoes and take part in the revamped Knowle Fun Run on May 21.

After 33 years the organisers, Knowle and Dorridge Lions, have bowed to pressure from runners and modernised the former five-mile run route, giving all ages the choice of running one 5km lap or two laps totaling 10km around Knowle.

Organiser Lion Bob Thurtle, said: Plans for the day are coming together well.

“Finding new sponsors each year is not easy and we are indebted to Listers Jaguar and Land Rover for stepping up to sponsor the KIDSruns.

“We hope that mums and dads from all over Solihull will enter their five-to-nine-year-olds for our successful four runs for children in school years 1 through 4.

“Every entrant is a winner as all the kids receive a free royal blue t-shirt on the day, as well as certificates of achievement, water bottle and chocolate bar as they finish.”

This year’s Knowle Fun Run will raise funds for Lions nominated charities – Prostate Cancer UK, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and local causes.

As every year the Lions are looking for non-runners to help as marshals or even to join our club to ensure the future success of the event.
