Raising a cuppa and funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

A CUPPA, a slice of cake and a donation were the order of the day at a Macmillan coffee morning in Shirley.

Residents at Bower Lodge were joined by Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Solihull West and Shirley MP, where £189 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event took place in the comfy Owners’ Lounge at the development on Stratford Road, and was part of the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign. Attendees gave generously and Churchill topped up the fundraising by donating £5 to Macmillan for every visitor who attended.

Churchill’s senior divisional marketing manager, Caroline Haswell, said: “Churchill has a special relationship with Macmillan Cancer Support and we’ve raised over £800,000 for the charity since 2009.

“It was great to welcome so many people to Bower Lodge to support Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning once again this year, including Dr Shastri-Hurst MP, and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us and gave so generously.

“These events are not only a fantastic way to raise money for a very worthwhile cause, but also an opportunity to get the local community together and show people what life with Churchill is all about.”
