Rain fails to dampen VE Day spirit

Solihull Editorial 12th May, 2021   0

RAIN FAILED to dampen spirits as residents at a Balsall Common care home celebrated VE Day.

The bunting was up and the gazebo provided the shelter needed so Harper Fields residents could stay watch the entertainment from the home with the windows open.

Under current Covid guidelines entertainers are only allowed in the grounds of care home.

Sharon McIntosh, the homes Activities Co-ordinator said “Happy VE Day to everyone, the miserable weather didn’t stop us celebrating.

“The fabulous Christy Pepper entertained us from the garden, they were fantastic.

“Our wonderful chef Barry dished up spam fritters, finger sandwiches and an incredible Union Jack cake which we all washed down with a beautiful glass of pimms.

“Flags were flying, hands were clapping and feet were tapping for our amazing residents.”
