RAIL PASSENGERS are being urged to plan their travel in advance ahead of two days of strike action.

On Friday (May 22) and Saturday (May 23) a very limited service will be in operation on the West Midlands Railway (WMR) network due to strike action by members of the TSSA trade union.

The action involves roster clerks who are due to walk out on Thursday (May 21) from midnight for 24 hours, and also duty train crew managers and control staff who have planned strike action from noon on Friday until midday Saturday.

TSSA said the action is over over rest day working payments.

Services on both dates will operate to a reduced timetable with no trains running after 7pm on Friday and a later 7am start of service on Saturday.

Routes with a limited service on Friday and Saturday are:

  • Cross City Line (Lichfield Trent Valley – Redditch and Bromsgrove via Birmingham New Street) – two trains per hour
  • Wolverhampton – Walsall via Birmingham New Street – one train per hour
  • Rugeley Trent Valley – Birmingham International via Birmingham New Street – one train per hour.

Train times will be available in Journey Planners.

No trains will run on any other WMR route, including all routes via Birmingham Snow Hill, the Camp Hill Line or between Nuneaton and Leamington Spa.

Some minor disruption to services is expected on the morning of Sunday (May 24) due to displacement of trains.
