A QUAD bike driver has died after a crash with a car in Olton.

The 64-year-old suffered serious injuries at around 8.30pm on Warwick Road on Thursday, July 15, and was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.

West Midlands Police said it understood the rider of the Taiwan Goldenbee quad was overtaking a line of traffic when the Fiesta was turning right into a petrol station and the two collided.

The driver of the Fiesta was uninjured but shaken up and is assisting police with enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said, “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts go out to the victim’s loved ones who are being supported by one of our specialist family liaison officers.

“The driver is assisting with our enquiries and our investigation is underway as we piece together the circumstances of the collision.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or with dash-cam footage, who has not already spoken to us to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or via live chat on the website or email the crash team on [email protected] and quote log 3592 of July 15.
