TOP MARKS have been handed out to thousands of children and young people who have made a pledged to Severn Trent to do their part and help to look after water and the environment.

During the academic year, Severn Trent’s Education Team has visited primary and secondary schools across the region spreading important messages including how to save water and the right and wrong things to flush down the toilet.

In total, there has been an incredible 135,045 youngsters educated between September 2022 and July 2023.

This includes 18,839 in Coventry and Warwickshire; 22,530 in Birmingham, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield and 15,332 in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

Severn Trent employees spoke with children about water, waste, and the environment through assemblies and workshops.

And as part of this the youngsters made a commitment to help look after our water and the environment.

Maxine Smith, senior education officer at Severn Trent, said: “This year has been hugely successful for the education team with an amazing number of young people engaged and committing to making a change in their daily habits to help the environment.

“The sessions and the pledges that they make help them to think about the work that Severn Trent does and how their actions can go a long way in impacting the environment.”

The current roadshow topic of the Education Team is ‘Our Super Sewers’ which covers topics including what is sewage, how is it treated, the consequences of sewer misuse and how a healthy sewer can contribute towards a healthy environment .

This assembly is available to primary and secondary schools until the end of March 2024, and bookings are being taken with all sessions completely free.
