BUDDING chefs were given a hand-on masterclass to create a three-course meal.

Year 10 pupils from Cockshut Hill School took part in the workshop led by Nandana Wijendra, head chef at Ibis Styles, Birmingham NEC.

Under the expert guidance of Chef Wijendra, the 19-strong group explored a variety of ingredients and professional techniques while preparing a delicious three-course meal.

The menu featured crispy chicken tenders to start, followed by a flavourful chicken tikka masala, and a rich chocolate cake for dessert.

Throughout the workshop they were able to develop their technical preparation and cooking skills.

Acting principal Marc O’Malley said: “This was a fantastic experience for our learners, giving them a real insight into the skills and dedication required in the hospitality industry.

“Opportunities like this inspire our young people to aim high and develop their confidence in a professional kitchen environment. A huge well done to everyone who took part!”
