Pull on slippers and help raise funds for Age UK Solihull

SILHILLIANS are being called on to don their slippers for the day to raise funds for Age UK Solihull.

The charity, which supports over 10,000 older people in the borough in year is asking local schools, businesses and individuals to donate funds and wear their cosiest footwear on Friday, September 30, in aid of UN International Day of Older Persons, and UK Older People’s Day on October 1.

Now in its ninth year, Slip Into Slippers aims to celebrate older people and the valuable contribution they make to our society, while raising funds to help Age UK Solihull to support those who need them most.

Last year £1,840 was raised as nine schools including Marston Green Infant Academy, Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School, Sharmans Cross Junior School, and Balsall Common Primary School and Chelmsley Wood care home, Saxon Court, also joined in with the event.

Rebecca Jacob, digital marketing and fundraising manager at Age UK Solihull, said: “Slip Into Slippers is a really fun campaign which anyone can get involved in.

“Whether you are at home, at work or somewhere else this Friday – as long as it is safe to do so, you can give your feet a treat and help raise funds.

“If everyone donates just £1 each it can help us make a real difference to older people in the Solihull.”
