Prostate cancer survivor hands funds to Shirley Lions Club to host cancer check event

THERE WERE smiles all round as a Hockley Heath man handed over funds for a prostate cancer check event.

When Peter Constable had a check at Spire Parkway Hospital in the spring, his world was turned upside down when tests revealed he had the early stages of prostate cancer.

Following an operation and recovery Peter and his wife Sharon decided to host a charity ball to fund a PSA Test session, similar to the one he attended.

They raised more than £7,000 at the charity event which was held at The Henley Golf Club in Henley-in-Arden.

The couple handed £5,000 to Peter Constable to Martin and Gillian Conlon from Shirley Lions Club, which will be hosting a PSA testing day on April 18 at the Shirley Methodist Church.

They also handed funds over to the Solihull Prostate Support Group to thank them for the advice and support Peter received from them when he was diagnosed in 2018.

Sharon said: “This is only the beginning, watch this space for future fundraising from the Prostate Awareness team with a cheeky little calendar being produced for 2021 ready to be launched at the next charity ball.”
