MORE than 250 men turned up to get a free PSA tests to check for signs of prostate cancer at a special ‘open morning’ at Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull.

It is the fourth year that Spire Parkway has carried out the free tests to mark Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, but it was the highest ever turnout.

Head of Clinical Services at Spire Parkway, Matron Pat Munday, said: “It was an absolutely amazing response and we were delighted to see so many men take up our offer of a free test, even if some did need to queue.

“We are always telling men they need to get themselves checked out, so this was us ‘putting our money where our mouth is’ by offering a quick, easy and free way of taking the test.

“It was a lovely morning – everyone was in great spirits and, despite being very busy throughout, our nurses really enjoyed the whole event.”

It is hoped the blood test results will be delivered to all participants within three weeks.
