Professor Cofone, who is a Professor of Geography and Head of the Honors College at Suffolk County Community College, Long Island, flew in from New York to address Senior School pupils with his presentation entitled ‘It’s in the DNA; America’s Fear of Concentrated Power and Presidential Politics’.
During his visit to the UK, Professor Cofone also spoke with Sixth Form History and Politics students and visited Solihull Prep School to deliver a series of academic lectures across the Junior age range, complementing their Geography studies.
Dr Eagleton, Head of Academic Enrichment at the leading 3-18 independent co-educational day school said: “Our Academic Enrichment talks are designed to showcase the wider academic life of the school.
“We were delighted to welcome Professor Cofone back to Solihull to begin the discussions which are open to all Senior School pupils and staff who are intellectually curious and eager to expand their understanding of the world around them.”
Professor Cofone said: “I was very pleased to be invited to launch Solihull School’s new Academic Enrichment talks. It is always an absolute pleasure to come to the UK, share my knowledge and meet the young scholars at Solihull.
“I was particularly pleased to see some pupils at the Senior School who I met many years ago at the Junior School! I’m already looking forward to my next trip.”
Mr Morgan, Head of the Senior School, added: “Mr Penney, Head of the Prep School, introduced us to Professor Cofone over 10 years ago, and he has been a frequent visitor to Solihull ever since.
“We are very grateful to Professor Cofone for launching our Academic Enrichment talks. His knowledge, passion and delivery as an educator are inspirational and his inaugural lecture will live long in the memory.”
