THE “INCREDIBLE selfless actions” of the emergency workers who helped pull the four boys from Babbs Mill Lake have been raised in the House of Commons.

During Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday, December 14, Meriden MP, Saqib Bhatti, asked the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, if he would join him in paying tribute to the heroic actions who went into the water without any personal protective equipment (PPE) to save the boys.

Mr Bhatti said: “A police officer used his bare hands to try to break through the ice and then joined in the water with fire services without the PPE risking their own lives to save the children.”

Mr Bhatti also paid tribute to the Kingshurst community which has come together to support each other.

Mr Sunak offered his condolences to the families and everyone in the community involved.

He added: “I also join him in paying tribute to our emergency services for as he said their incredible selfless actions.

“This whole event has completely shocked the local community.”
