PRIMARY schools from across Chelmsley Wood, Kingshurst and Smith’s Wood came together to showcase their inspiring work on environmental sustainability and community engagement.

Held as part of the wider Your Future Chelmsley Wood initiative, the event celebrated the creativity and commitment of pupils from schools including Forest Oak, Bishop Wilson, Windy Arbor, Kingshurst, and Grace Academy.

From eco-teams and recycled fashion shows to bee gardens and litter campaigns, students demonstrated how local action can contribute to global goals.

The event, hosted by Solihull Council, featured performances, discussion, and interactive sessions, all aimed at encouraging young people to think globally and act locally.

Pupils shared their achievements in improving air quality, promoting active travel, and enhancing green spaces in their communities.

Opening the event, The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, said: “It’s inspiring to see our young people leading the way in protecting the environment.

“Your passion and creativity show that Chelmsley Wood has a bright, sustainable future ahead.

“Keep asking questions, keep taking action, and keep making your schools and communities greener.”

The celebration also recognised the support of local businesses including Flannery Plant Hire, Tel Group, and Birmingham Airport, whose contributions helped make the event a success.

The Your Future Chelmsley Wood project work with schools, families, and local organisations to improve housing, air quality, and green spaces, while empowering the next generation to shape a healthier, more sustainable future.
