Preparations for fun-filled Shirley Carnival underway

PREPARATIONS are well under way for the Shirley Carnival next month.

Local dancers and musical groups will be performing alongside this year’s headline act Misselchalke gun dogs at Shirley Park on Saturday, July 13.

There will be a Punch and Judy show, and rides and activities for children.

Carnival chairman Colin Buckley said: “The carnival always has two objectives – to provide a fun-filled day of fun for all the family and also to raise money for charity.

“This year we are raising money for the Lions’ own projects – a mixture of local, national and international causes – and it is hoped that the public of Shirley will turn up in their thousands to support these worthwhile causes.”

The event starts at noon and entrance costs £2.

Anyone wanting a stall on the day should contact Shirley Lions on 0845 833 9547.
