POLICE want to speak with this man following incidents of distraction thefts across Solihull.
West Midlands Police said it had received two reports of distraction theft in January with similar circumstances.
The force said: “A man approached an elderly woman on a supermarket car park and told her she had forgotten an item in her trolley.
“The woman then left her vehicle to go look in the trolley, whilst the man went into her car and stole a purse, bank cards and a mobile phone.
“He has gone on to spend thousands on the stolen bank cards, and has also used them at ATM machines.”
The first incident is said to have taken place at Sainsbury’s supermarket car park on Stratford Road, Shirley, at around 11.30am on January 22.
The second incident is reported to have taken place at the car park of Sainsbury’s supermarket on Avenue Road, Dorridge, around 12pm on January 23.
