Police officers and staff go on the run for Motor Neurone Disease

WEST Midlands Police officers and staff got their running shoes on in honour of the force’s former Assistant Chief Constable Chris Johnson.

The group took part in the Rock ‘n’ Roll marathon in Liverpool to raise cash towards the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) and Primrose Hospice in

The team raise £60,000 but are expecting this to grow as donations have continued to pour in.

The #WMPMND team were joined by other police officers and staff from across a range of forces – including two Chief Constables.




Chris was diagnosed with MND in 2018 but still continued to work for almost two years before retiring.

The father-of-two and his wife Sharon, who is also a serving officer, have carried on raising awareness and also fundraise towards research into the terminal disease since.
