Police officer assaulted in Stratford town centre - knives seized and one arrest

POLICE seized three knives after arresting a man following the assault of a PCSO in Stratford town centre.

A 38-year-old-man was detained on Waterside near the Royal Shakespeare Theatre shortly before 7pm on Wednesday.

Police responded following a report of a man being verbally abusive. The man allegedly pushed the PCSO as she attempted to talk to him. She was not injured.

Following his arrest, officers searched the man at the scene and seized a small lock knife. A further search in custody led to two more small lock knives being seized.




The man, of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of a committing a public order offence, assaulting an emergency worker, and possession of offensive weapons. He is currently in custody.

Police are keen to hear from witnesses who should call 101.
