Police hunt 'brazen' car key thief

CCTV images have been released of a bald-headed thief who sneaked into a Solihull pub and stole a member of staff’s car keys before driving off in her Fiat 500.

Police were called to the Mason’s Arms pub on High Street shortly after 4pm on November 28 after a female member of staff realised her pale blue Fiat had gone.

The ‘62’ plate car had been parked at the rear of the pub and the keys were left inside the 48-year-old’s coat which was in a private staff area of the pub.

Unbeknown to staff at the busy bar, the thief managed to sneak in through a rear door and rummage through her belongings, taking the keys and £3 in cash before escaping through a fire exit.

Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Burt, from Solihull Investigation Team, said: “The brazen thief was captured on CCTV outside the pub and is believed to have driven off in the woman’s car at around 3.30pm that day.

“We have made numerous enquiries to identify him and locate the car but so far neither have proved fruitful.

“We hope people can help us trace the man caught on camera as part of our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should contact Solihull Investigation Team on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
