Police close Chelmsley Wood cannabis farm

Solihull Editorial 13th Feb, 2025   0

A CANNABIS farm was uncovered in Chelmsley Wood.

Officers carried out a warrant in Norwich Croft where a significant amount of product had been cut and were ready to be dried and bagged for sale.

Police say the property had been set up to bypass the electricity to disguise the huge amounts of power required to heat and power the operation.

A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity.

He was bailed while enquiries continue.

Elsewhere, the Chelmsley Wood, the neighbourhood team also linked up with the police Cadets for a safe weapon sweep and patrol of Lanchester Park.

The St Alphege team carried out a speed enforcement operation in Sharman’s Cross Road where three cars were stopped, and the drivers reported for excess speed.

All three drivers were travelling at more than 30mph in a 20mph zone, with one car being seized for being untaxed and uninsured.

Finally, the Shirley Neighbourhood Team were out and about in Joseph Crescent for high-visibility patrols.

This was in response to community concerns around anti-social behaviour.

West Midlands Police said: “Our teams across the Solihull LPA are always looking at new strategies and operations to keep the public safe.

“Information we receive from the community is vital in informing us where and when crime and anti-social behaviour are happening, which helps us plan our operations and patrols.

“Get in touch with us via 101 or Live Chat to tell us of any concerns you have where you live, and follow us on our social media channels to see more of the good work of our teams.”
