Police appeal after hit and run incident leaves cyclist injured

Correspondent 8th Dec, 2020   0

POLICE are appealing for information after a hit and run incident on Chester Road, Chelmsley Wood on Wednesday, November 11.

A 16 year-old was cycling along the service road near to the main road between 5pm and 5.15pm, when he was struck by a car.

The boy was left injured on the road as the vehicle drove off and was later taken to hospital with a fractured nose after a member of the public found him.

Police are asking for information from anyone who saw what happened or who may have captured dash-cam footage of the incident itself or the moments before or after the collision.

PC Jordan Keen from the Traffic Investigations Unit, said: “I am asking any witnesses who we have not yet spoken to, to come forward and let us know what they saw that day.

“We believe a dark coloured car may have been involved and we need help in identifying exactly what vehicle it was.

“Thankfully the boy is doing okay now, but perhaps the driver was unaware of the level of injury they caused at the time, so we need to find them.”

Enquiries continue and anyone with information is asked to contact us via live chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111. Please quote log 3987 of 11 November.
