Police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist lost his life in a collision on the A45, near to Birmingham Airport on Sunday afternoon (May 21).

Officers were called to the A45, Coventry Road, Solihull at around 12.20pm to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist.

Sadly a man believed to be in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The A45 in both directions between Catherine-de-Barnes and Damson Parkway were closed for most of the afternoon, while traffic officers began work to establish the circumstances around the collision.

A 22-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were arrested a short time later in Erdington in connection with the collision and remain in police custody this evening.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force’s Collision Unit, said: “There were a lot of drivers on the A45 at the time of the collision who may have seen what happened and I am appealing to those who have not yet spoken to us to urgently get in touch.

“At the moment we are keeping an open mind around what might have happened but we really need anyone who witnessed the collision or the lead up to it to give us a call.

“The family of the man are being supported by specialist officers at this tragic time and our thoughts remain with them.”

Anyone with information is urged to call the investigation team on 101.
