PLANS to convert part of a centuries-old estate in Castle Bromwich into apartments have been handed to Solihull Council.
The Coach House – which is Grade II* listed – could be turned into 16 apartments with one, two and three bedrooms if it is given approval.
The outbuilding has a distinctive clock above the main entrance – was last used as offices but it has been vacant for sometime, according to planning documents.
A 22-space car park would be incorporated at the development site, which is part of the Castle Bromwich conservation area and lies opposite a small area of parkland known as Bradford Gardens.
A report submitted to support the plans accepted any alterations would need to be “sensitive”, given the building’s historic value.
