RESIDENTS living in social housing across the borough are being called on to have their say on the allocation process in Solihull.
Solihull Council wants to its scheme and would like to hear from a range of people with views on this.
Like all local authorities, is required by law to ensure it has a scheme which meets its legal obligations and which enables it to determine priorities and procedures when allocating social housing.
This includes how the council decides who should have priority for those properties that are available.
Cabinet member for Housing, Councillor Mark Parker, said: “We really want to make sure that we allocate social housing to those most in need and that we do this in a fair and clear way.
“We also want to make sure that we don’t have people waiting on lists for social housing when they are unlikely to be housed.
“The housing team has drafted a new policy for allocating social housing and we are running a ten-week consultation about the draft policy.
“We would like to hear from a wide range of people – whether you have direct experience of living in social housing, work in a related field or just have an interest.”
The consultation runs until September 29.
