Plans to build 330 homes in Hockley Heath submitted

DEVELOPERS have submitted an outline plan to build up to 330 homes in Hockley Heath.

Following extensive community consultation Taylor Wimpey handed plans to Warwick District Council for permission to build on land south of Aylesbury Road.

The proposed development site forms part of a Strategic Growth Location (SGL) identified as a preferred option for the delivery of new homes in the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan.

An outline planning application allows for the Council to make a decision on the general principles of how a site can be developed but works should not begin until full planning permission has been given by the authority.

Developers say up to half of the new home will be affordable, including homes for social rent and shared ownership.

It added that all home will be low carbon, incorporating air source heat pumps, solar panels and EV charging points.

The outline plans also include green public open spaces with new planting, children’s play areas, a community garden or orchard, and enhanced public rights of way.

Stephen Swinscoe, strategic land regional director at Taylor Wimpey, said: “We are grateful to everyone who took part in our consultation earlier in the year, and we are pleased to have now submitted our outline plans to Warwick District Council for consideration.

“It is clear from feedback that local infrastructure is among the priorities for people in Hockley Heath and Lapworth. We anticipate that our plans will provide a significant package of infrastructure investment, and we are committed to working with the local authorities to ensure this is directed where it’s needed most.

“We look forward to continuing to engage with the local community as our plans develop.”

Taylor Wimpey has updated their consultation website here with information about the planning submission.

The application can also be viewed on Warwick District Council’s planning portal under reference W/25/1709.
