RESIDENTS are being called on to have their say on plans to build 300 new homes in Knowle.
Developer Richborough has announced early plans for a new housing development at Golden End Farm, located on land north of Kenilworth Road on the eastern edge of Knowle, adjacent to Knowle Primary School.
The proposals aim to deliver around 300 new homes.
Alongside new homes, the plans include a community park, a new sports pitch and a foot and cycle path along the Grand Union Canal.
The proposals also include measures to ease existing parking pressures in the area. Richborough is looking to provide a car park off Kixley Lane to help reduce congestion around Knowle Primary Academy at busy times and to serve users of the community park and canal towpath.
The proposals will also include a facility for coaches to safely pick up and drop off school children on school trips, with a turning area close to Kixley Lane. This aims to resolve the current problems the school experiences with coach access.
Solihull Borough is required to deliver over 1,300 homes each year, but there is not enough brownfield land to meet this need.
As part of its Local Plan process, the Council identified a range of potential locations for new homes.
In 2019, this site was deemed to be an ‘amber’ option, meaning it is well contained with clearly defined boundaries and is in a highly accessible location near to local services.
Before submitting a planning application, Richborough is launching a public consultation to gather feedback on the emerging proposals.
An online briefing will take place on 21 January at 6:00pm where residents can learn more about the plans and ask questions.
