Pensioner in Shirley crash dies

A PENSIONER has died following a crash in Shirley at the weekend.

The 81-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision which happened on Stratford Road, near to the junction with Stanway Road in Shirley, at around 6.45pm on Saturday (November 16).

He suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital where police said he was in a serious condition.

On Tuesday (November 19) police confirmed the man, from the Shirley area, had died.




West Midlands Police said the driver of the car remained at the scene and is assisting officers with the investigation.

Speaking after the incident Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are in the process of establishing the circumstances around the collision and would ask anyone with information which may assist us to come forward.”
