Pedestrian, 26, in critical condition after hit and run in Sheldon

A 26-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a hit and run collision in Sheldon.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident on Monday (September 18).

Chris Hood was crossing Brays Road, Sheldon at around 10:10pm when a vehicle struck him.

The vehicle was then driven towards Radleys Island and turned left into Sheldon Heath Road.




Police said the vehicle was ‘unknown’ – or unidentified.

Chris needed life-saving treatment at the scene and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he remained in a critical condition yesterday.


Detective sergeant Paul Hughes said: “Chris was making his way home from work when the collision occurred.

“We are keeping an open mind with regards to the identity of the vehicle and continue to explore a number of lines of enquiry.

“Officers from our dedicated Family Liaison Team are currently supporting Chris’ family and they have chosen to release his picture to help support our appeal.

“I would ask for anyone with information to contact myself of my team giving reference 2625 18/09/17.”
