Shamed breast surgeon Ian Paterson is expected to be sentenced ‘any minute now’.
Speaking from a gathering of his victims and their supporters at The Greswolde Hotel in Knowle, one of his victim’s Sarah Jane Downing said they were all waiting with baited breath for the sentencing, which she believed was due to be handed down at around 2.30pm.
Many of his victims – around 30 of them – were at one of the regular coffee mornings held by campaigner Sarah Jane when the guilty verdict was announced.
“Everyone was very emotional – the reaction was mostly tears,” she told Observer editor Chris Willmott.
