PA register launches in Solihull

A PERSONAL Personal Assistant (PA) Register has been launched in Solihull to help increase the social care workforce in Solihull and support residents who receive direct payments to find PAs.

The Register supports PAs looking for flexible work across the borough and Solihull residents, who receive direct payments, seeking to employ local PAs.

Funded by Solihull Council, the Register has been set up and is managed by the direct payments team at Age UK Solihull.

Direct payments give adults and children more choice and control to employ a PA, based on their support and care needs, to enable them to live a full and independent life.

PAs who choose to join the register, and residents receiving direct payments from Solihull Council, will be matched based on personal care and support needs, location, and preferred working arrangements.

The Register is free for PAs to join and is open to both employed and self-employed PAs.

PAs support adults or children with disabilities, health conditions, or other support needs to live a full and independent life, tasks may include personal care such as washing, dressing and medication support, household chores tasks like cooking, cleaning and shopping, social support including accompanying to appointments and activities, and other support in the home or in the community.

PA Register project coordinator, Lisa Harding, said: “The PA Register is a vital step in helping match Personal Assistants with local residents by helping to find the right support and care for their needs, having a direct impact on their quality of life.”
