Opinions sought on plans to build up to 850 homes in Tidbury Green

SILHILLIANS are being called on to have their say on plans to build 850 homes in Tidbury Green.

Summix, the promoter behind the proposals, will host a community feedback event on June 26 to give residents and stakeholders the opportunity to help shape the emerging proposals.

Plans have been put forward to build up to 850 new homes – half are said to be affordable housing – alongside new green spaces, a flood alleviation scheme, traffic calming measures and on-site amenities on land douth of Norton Lane.

The plans will be on display at Earlswood Methodist Church on Rumbush Lane from 1pm until 8pm.

A spokesperson for Summix said: “In line with the UK government’s ambition to build 1.5million new homes, there is a recognised need for more housing in Solihull with demand far exceeding supply.

“The population is growing larger, people are living longer, and younger generations are struggling to get onto the property ladder.

“In bringing forward proposals for new housing to help meet local needs, our plans also aim to address other local issues, particularly around road safety and flooding.

“We want to hear directly from the community about what matters most to them so that we can shape a scheme that delivers real local benefits.”

Anyone who cannot attend the event can still get involved by completing a survey and sharing feedback online at www.landsouthofnortonlane.co.uk.

Comments can also be submitted via post using Freepost MEETING PLACE CONSULTATION, via email at [email protected] or by calling 0808 143 4780 (freephone).

The consultation will close on July 11 with Summix intending to submit an outline planning application to Solihull Council later this year.
