One month left to apply for help towards energy costs in Solihull

Solihull Editorial 2nd Sep, 2024   0

SOLLIHULL Council is reminding residents they have just one month left to apply for vital funding which could help towards their energy bills and cost of living.

Support is available to households through the Household Support Fund, which is currently due to end on September 30.

The Fund provides eligible households with fuel vouchers of up to £147 through Act on Energy, fuel debt relief of up to £500 through Age UK Solihull, or payments of up to £147 to help towards their energy costs through Solihull Council.

Other support includes energy efficiency advice, boiler repairs and maintenance, essential white goods, clothes and blankets to reduce energy costs and keep people warm.

To be eligible for support offered through Act on Energy and Age UK, you must live in Solihull and have a combined annual household income of under £31,000.

Eligibility for support through Solihull Council is based on ongoing entitlements, income, and who else lives in the household.

Solihull Council’s cabinet member for housing, Coun Mark Parker, said: “This funding can be a real lifeline to households struggling with the cost of living and rising energy bills, so I urge residents to check if they are eligible to make sure they are not missing out.”

The Government provided Solihull Council with £1.4 million for the fifth round of the Household Support Fund, with energy support being delivered in Solihull in partnership with energy advice charity Act on Energy and Age UK Solihull.

The Fund also helps those most in need with support ranging from the cost of essentials, urgent household items, and access to food.

Please note, applications must be made through the contact method outlined above.
