Off-road bikes seized in day of action in Solihull

Solihull Editorial 19th Jul, 2024   0

WEST Midlands Police are continuing to take action against nuisance and anti-social off-road bikes in Solihull.

Last week (July 16) 12 warrants were carried out across the north of the borough by neighbourhood teams, alongside Priorities, Operations Support Unit and Birmingham LPA officers.

These warrants were all based on intelligence around off-road bikes being ridden in a dangerous or anti-social way and were supported by colleagues from the local authority.

Nearly a dozen vehicles were seized, including three off-road bikes, two quadbikes, an e-bike and a beach buggy.

These will now be examined while we investigate them for links to recent incidents.

Insp Andy Bridgewater said: “We have had lots of concerns from residents around the anti-social use of off-road bikes, which is why we’ve done these warrants today.

“We have been out to these 12 addresses and recovered 11 vehicles suspected to be linked to ASB, so we will be seeking prosecutions where possible on those.

“This issue is of huge concern to me and my team, as well as the residents of Solihull north, so we action can help reassure the public and keep them safe.”

West Midlands Police often rely on information from the public when tackling issues like this, particularly when it comes to telling them where the bikes are stored.

If you see this kind of anti-social and dangerous riding, inform the police about it via 101 or Live Chat.

Solihull Council also has a dedicated reporting web page for ASB involving off-road bikes, visit solihull.gov.uk/crime-and-safety/illegal-road-bikes for more information.
