Nursery appeals for donations for families of Grenfell Tower

Solihull Editorial 15th Jun, 2017   0

A NURSERY is taking action to support families affected by the fire at a Grenfell Tower in London.

The Natural Childcare Company, which has centres in Dorridge and Shirley, is appealing for kind-hearted individuals to donate household necessities and clothes to the families who lost their homes and beloved possessions in yesterday’s fire.

Katie Landreth, the nursery’s managing director, launched the appeal and said: “When I saw what happened in London it hit me horrifically.

“I knew straight away that we had to do something to help these people.”

So Katie got in touch with a charity in London to organise the donation.

She added: “We’ve been overwhelmed with the response to our appeal and can’t believe how many donations we’ve received – we only ever expected ten to 15 bags, but now we have a whole nursery full.

“What’s nice is how the community comes together following a tragic event – its real British spirit.

“With these donations we can give the families a real boost.”

All donations should be of good quality and put into a black bin bag or an enclosed box and labelled with a gender and age for which they are appropriate.

Donations can be taken to one of the nurseries in either Box Trees Road, Dorridge or The Old Library in Church Road, Shirley until next Monday (June 19) at 6pm.
