NPower volunteers recognised for Macmillan Cancer Support work

Solihull Editorial 6th Feb, 2018   0

KIND-HEARTED volunteers from npower’s Solihull Office have been recognised for their ongoing work with Macmillan Cancer Support by Prince Charles.

Sam Schiaffino and Linda Owen were invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace where their life-changing contributions to helping people living with cancer were recognised.

Sam and Linda have been supporting Macmillan’s Buddy Scheme for four years, since the scheme was rolled out across Solihull’s npower office.

Over the years they have helped people affected by cancer with practical and emotional support, from lending a hand with the shopping to sitting down for a cup of tea and a chat.

Sam said: “It was a fantastic night and I am so proud to be one of the volunteers recognised. It was an absolute honour to be invited to Buckingham Palace to meet and speak to HRH The Prince of Wales.

“It’s definitely something I will never forget and will cherish forever.”

As well as many volunteering their time, npower staff raised £144,000 for Macmillan in 2016, which was matched pound for pound by the energy company.
