INTREPID explorers put their best foot forward to help raise funds for Macmillian Cancer Support.

The ten Solihul Npower employees were part of a 40-strong team who trekked 25 miles from Keswick to Ambleside across the Lake District in aid of the cancer charity.

Mark Yarrow, from npower’s Solihull office, took part in the challenge in memory of his parents who both died from cancer.

He said: “It was an absolutely exhausting challenge – the sun beating down was unrelenting.

“The last ten miles were the hardest, it was definitely a case of mind over mountain.

“Knowing that people had sponsored us really helped to keep us going when the body was unwilling, but crossing the finish line was such a relief.”

Each fundraiser had an individual fundraising target of £150 which they collectively walked all over with a staggering £7,000 raised. This was matched pound for pound by Npower, tipping the total fundraising pot to over £14,000.

Macmillan have been Npower’s charity partner for over 13 years and npower fundraisers have raised millions of pounds to help over 34,000 families.
