NOMINEES for the Solihull SEND Awards joined the Mayor for afternoon tea.
Almost two months after the awards the Mayor, Councillor Annette Mackenzie welcomed 28 pupils from six different primary schools across the borough to the Civic Suite.
As well as tasty treats the children were allowed to play and get crafty with writing or drawing on dazzling gold stars.
The 19 nominees from secondary and special schools were also honoured with their own special afternoon tea separately with the Mayor.
The Mayor said: “Every child I welcomed into the Civic Suite brought such warmth, courage and positivity, despite the challenges they may face.
“Their resilience and determination are truly inspiring, and they remind us all of the strength that exists within our young people.
“I was equally moved by the dedication and compassion shown by the teachers and school staff who support them every day.
“Their commitment helps ensure that every child feels valued, understood and able to thrive.
“Solihull is proud to stand alongside our most vulnerable young people and their families, offering encouragement, guidance and opportunity. The afternoons were filled with balloons, cake and joyful laughter, but above all they were filled with pride.
“Celebrating these remarkable children felt not only right, but essential – their achievements, perseverance and bright futures deserve to be recognised and cherished.”
