RESIDENTS are being called on to step forward and become a governor at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB).

Health bosses are calling on those who understand what’s important to the people in their community who use NHS services in Birmingham and Solihull and who could spare the time to pass this on and help to improve our services to put their hat in the ring to join the team.

UHB is the home of Good Hope Hospital, Heartlands Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Solihull Hospital.

There are 12 vacancies across 11 constituencies in this year’s election, including: Birmingham Central; Birmingham East; Birmingham North; Birmingham South; Birmingham Southeast; Birmingham Reservoirs; Lichfield, Northwest and Northeast; Solihull and Meriden; Sutton Coldfield South; Rest of England and Wales.

There is also a vacancy for one governor for the following staff constituency: Medical and Dental.

Dame Yve Buckland, chair of UHB, said: “Our governors are absolutely crucial to us at UHB; they play an important role in ensuring that local people and patients have their voices heard, to help us improve our services.

“We are looking for governors who are passionate about supporting their local community, the NHS, and demonstrate our values; Kind, Connected and Bold. If you think this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.”

To be eligible to stand for election, individuals must live in the one of the constituencies areas listed above and be a member of UHB.

Those who are not a member can join here.
