Nominations open for first Inspirational Youth Awards

Solihull Editorial 1st Feb, 2023   0

AN AWARDS ceremony dedicated to honouring exceptional young people from across the West Midlands has been launched.

BEvents, which delivers other ceremonies including Women in Tech Awards and Midlands Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards, have created the Inspirational Youth Awards to recognise those aged between 16 and 25, who are making a positive impact in their community.

Set to be an annual celebration that puts the next generation in the spotlight, the awards will demonstrate that young people can be a force for change, in their own lives and communities.

The inaugural event, which is being hosted at Birmingham’s Eastside Rooms on April 29, will recognise young people in 20 categories, including Youth Activist of the Year, Young Leader of the Year, Young Carer of the Year, and Outstanding Contribution to the Community.

BEvents’ co-founder, Ifraz Ahmed, said: “Young people are often the unsung heroes of our communities, working hard behind the scenes to make a difference.

“We want to place a spotlight on brilliant young people and celebrate the impact they’re having in their daily lives.

“The awards will not only bring together the finalists and their supporters, but we want the city’s business community to come out in force too.

“Instead of hosting tables of seasoned professionals, we hope to see young talent being invited along to celebrate their peers and experience how the region recognises greatness.”

The event’s first sponsors have been announced and include Black Country community organisation Powered By Can; leading music and arts agency, Punch Records; and BMet.

Suzie Branch, vice principle of external development at BMet, said: “We at BMET are so delighted to be able to support the inaugural Inspirational Youth Awards.

“We personally believe in celebrating the achievements of young people, and after the challenges they have faced through Covid and various lockdowns there has never been more of important time to shine a spotlight on our outstanding young talent.”

Nominations are now open for the Inspirational Youth Awards and close on March 27.
