New zebra crossings help get Solihull children safely to school

Solihull Editorial 20th Mar, 2024   0

NEW pedestrian crossings have been placed on busy Solihull roads to help children get to school safely.

Solihull Council installed five zebra crossings for children and adults alike to access school and services following a review of crossing facilities as part of the Local Network Improvement Plan 2023/24.

They are located on Blossomfield Road, Dickens Heath Road, Monkspath Hall Road Solihull Road and Windward Way.

In addition to the Zebra Crossings, further crossings have been installed on Stanway Road and Radbourne Road.

Councillor Ken Hawkins, cabinet member for Environment and Infrastructure said: “Zebra Crossings are a safe way for pedestrians to cross busy roads.

“People find them easy to use so these crossings are especially useful on established school routes.

“The new crossings play an important role as part of our wider strategy to support people of all ages to walk more and use their cars less.”
