New urgent treatment centre in Chelmsley Wood now open

Solihull Editorial 25th Aug, 2020   0

NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group have opened a new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) at Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre.

This service replaces the UTC that was previously based at Solihull Hospital, that was closed due to the need to reconfigure services in response to Covid-19.

This is an interim location until 31 March 2021, until a permanent solution has been developed with stakeholders, that ensures the needs of local people are met in the longer term.

Dr Richard Mendelsohn from NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We recognise that there is a significant need for an urgent care facility in the borough of Solihull and are pleased that we have secured Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre.

“To ensure the centre does not become overcrowded and strict infection prevention measures can be adhered to, all patients are now required to contact NHS 111 before they attend the UTC to seek advice, and if necessary, they will be offered a booked appointment.

“The UTC will not accept ‘walk-in’ visits, in order to protect patients and staff; we would like to thank patients in advance for their cooperation with this.”

The UTC is located at Crabtree Drive, Chelmsley Wood, B37 5BU and will operate 7 days per week from 8.00am to 8.00pm.

The UTC has an onsite pharmacy, car parking and good public transport links.
