New service to help find jobs for Solihull people unemployed from coronavirus crisis

SOLIHULL Council has launched a new service to help residents made unemployed in the Coronavirus crisis to find work.

Councillor Ian Courts, Leader of Solihull Council, said: “Coronavirus lockdown has had a devastating effect on the economy and while we all realise it has been necessary to stay at home to save lives, I also recognise people need work.

”There are companies providing essential services and in other sectors that are recruiting.  It seems only sensible to offer support to those out of work because of the virus, to get the new jobs that are available.

“This new free and bespoke service is available to anyone who has been made redundant or had their own small business.  It is also there to support the self-employed who are looking for work to tide them over until they can re-start their own businesses again.

“Whatever your situation the Council’s Employment and Skills Team is ready to help”

The service offers..

Access to jobs from employers who are recruiting now.

Telephone meetings with a qualified adviser who specialises in supporting people into work.

Help with creating or updating a CV relevant to the type of jobs a person is interested in.

Up-to-date information and advice on interview techniques, such as what to expect; how to impress and how to do research on the job you are applying for, and much more.

People don’t have to sign up to any programme or course, just contact Lita Thornhill on 07557 633369 or email:[email protected]
