New residents thanked for their contributions to the community

Solihull Editorial 27th Jun, 2022   0

MAYOR of Solihull, Councillor Ken Meeson, met with two Solihull residents this week to thank them for their contributions to the community.

Miu Ching Yeung and Yuk Ming Wong  moved to Solihull from Hong Kong in 2021 and have since made a huge effort to be friendly neighbours to those on their street.

The Mayor invited them to his parlour as a recognition of their actions and to thank them.

Coun Michael Gough, cabinet member for children and education, made the Mayor aware of their good deeds and so also met with the residents as he lives on their street and was touched by their efforts.

Ever since she moved in, Miu Ching has made an extra effort to be friendly to neighbours on her street and greet passers-by who are taking children to the local school.

She has also been picking up bins from the road and the pavement when the wind has blown them about, pulling everyone’s bins and recycling boxes down their drives and putting them outside the correct houses.

The Mayor said: “It is wonderful to see examples like this that show we have such thoughtful residents in our borough, selflessly doing things for their neighbours and showing great community spirit. It was lovely to meet them both.

“I hope to see residents continuing to show acts of kindness like this and coming together as a community.

“I encourage you to follow in their footsteps and look to see if there is anything you can do to help your neighbours, this could start with making an effort to say hello each day.”
