A MURDER investigation is under way after a man on an electric bike died following a crash in Yardley.

The 22-year-old tragically died at the scene at the junction with Moat Lane and Vera Road following the collision, which took place at around 11.55pm on August 1.

West Midlands Police said three men aged 17, 19 and 20, were arrested from an address in Yardley in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.

The force added the vehicle involved, believed to be a white Seat Leon, left the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace the car.

Family liaison officers are supporting the family of the man who died.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The cyclist was in a critical condition and was receiving basic life support from police colleagues. Ambulance crews immediately took over and began administering advanced life support.

“Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became clear that the man couldn’t be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

West Midlands Police are appealing for information and any dash cam footage from anyone in the Moat Lane, Coventry Road and Vera Road areas just before, or after, the collision.

Anyone with information should contact police via the Live Chat on the force’s website or call 101 and quote log 5203 of August 1.
