A SOLIHULL mother was handed a 12 month community order for failing to ensure her child’s school attendance.
The mother was sentenced on Friday (March 23) at Birmingham Magistrates Court after her children failed to attend school between September and November 2017.
The defendant failed to attend the original court date on February 16.
The Judge deemed the case a category 1 offence and sentenced the defendant to a 12 month Community Order with 25 rehabilitation and activity requirement days – the highest level penalty that can be set by a court in these cases.
The Judge ordered a contribution to costs of £300 and also a Victim Surcharge of £85 with all amounts to be paid within two weeks.
