MP welcomes Vintage Sports-Car Club to Hockley Heath

THE VINTAGE Sports-Car Club were given a warm welcome to their Hockley Heath home.

Saqib Bhatti, MP for Meriden and Solihull East, visited the club following their move last year from Chipping Norton.

Since 1934 the Vintage Sports-Car Club (VSCC) has provided an arena for people to enjoy pre-war cars competitively and socially.

Mr Bhatti toured the Club’s library and archive, having the opportunity to sample the wealth of motoring history, built around an extensive reference library of books and periodicals.

The Club organises some 40 social and competitive events a year, including race meetings, hill climbs, sprints, road rallies, trials and driving tests all over the UK.

Mr Bhatti said: “I would like to thank the Vintage Sports-Car Club for their kindness and hospitality in showing me their new offices. I am delighted to welcome them to their new offices in Hockley Heath, following their move from Chipping Norton last year.

“It was a privilege to be taken out on a spin, kindly offered by the club in a vintage sports car, manufactured here in the West-Midlands nearly 100 years ago.

“While the car did have no seat belts, it still drove like it had rolled off the production line yesterday and it will be a treasured memory to have experienced being driven by an iconic piece of motoring history.”
