MP takes the pulse of crime on street patrol with police officers

MERIDEN MP Saqib Bhatti joined local police teams for area patrols and a day at the Chelmsley Wood Police Station offices.

Mr Bhatti took to the beat in Hockley Heath and Knowle High Street with the rural police team where he caught up with businesses about crime issues they were facing.

In the afternoon, he joined the Smith’s Wood, Kingshurst and Castle Bromwich team in Smith’s Wood where he spoke to local residents about anti social behaviour and other crime prevalent in the locality.

“It was a real pleasure to join the local neighbourhood police forces as they carried out their duties,” said Mr Bhatti.

“It was a thoroughly insightful day as I fully got to grips with the kinds of crime we are dealing with all across the Meriden constituency, both rural and urban, and ways we can work together to support our officers.

“Our police teams do a phenomenal job of keeping us all safe, so I want to thank them all for their outstanding commitment to our local communities.

“To Inspector Alec Wallace and his team, thank you for having me.”

The Inspector said: “It was great to have Saqib Bhatti MP join us for the day in the community, understanding how crime is affecting local residents, speaking with the Police Constables, and Police Community Support Officers who work in Meriden Constituency and witnessing first-hand the work they are doing to prevent and reduce crime.”
