MP ready to take leap of faith for Lily Mae Foundation

Solihull Editorial 7th Jul, 2023   0

MERIDEN MP, Saqib Bhatti, is taking to the skies to raise funds for a baby loss charity.

Mr Bhatti will be completing a skydive in aid of the Lily Mae Foundation, which offers a one to one Baby Loss Support Service and baby boxes as well as a number of other projects aimed to help those who have lost a baby to stillbirth, neonatal death, miscarriage or medical termination.

He is hoping to raise £1,000 in aid of the Balsall Common based charity.

The jump on August 3 will be the second time the Conservative MP has jumped off a plane in support of charity having raised thousands of pounds for Prostate Cancer UK in a skydive in 2019.

Mr Bhatti said: “Since I was elected, I have had the privilege of supporting the work the Lily Mae Foundation do for those going through the difficult experience of baby loss.

“Whilst I try not to make a habit of jumping out of planes, I know it will be worth it in support of the great work that Amy, Ryan and the team do at the Foundation.”

The Lily Mae Foundation was founded by Amy and Ryan Jackson after the tragic loss of their baby girl, Lily Mae in 2010 at Solihull Hospital.

Last year they celebrated their 10th anniversary, having helped over 1,000 parents, distributing over 4,000 memory boxes and support siblings during difficult times.

Ryan, the founder and managing director of the Lily Mae Foundation, said: “Mr Bhatti has offered superb support and awareness of baby loss and the devastating impact that it has on parents and families through his role as an MP.

“His passion to make a change, highlighting how baby loss affects so many parents and their families has been clear to see with his active participation in debates in parliament.

“Our work with Saqib has led him to want to do more to raise awareness of baby loss.

“We are extremely grateful that Mr Bhatti is continuing to show his support and awareness for The Lily Mae Foundation that will have an impact on all of those bereaved parents and their families who access our support.”
