A MOTORCYCLIST has escaped serious injury after crashing into a roundabout and being flung 100 yards away from his bike.

The incident happened at 8.40pm on Tuesday (April 22) night at the junction of the A452 Collector Road and Moorend Avenue in Castle Bromwich.

A paramedic area support officer was first to attend the scene and was backed by an ambulance.

The 22-year-old rider was initially reported as being unconscious, buthe had come round when crews arrived who reported him as ‘evidently confused’.

Both wheels on his bike were buckled and the alloys were broken.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find the rider a considerable distance from his bike.

“Amazingly, he had no obvious injuries, but – due to his confusion – crews suspected some sort of head injury.

“As a precaution he was immobilised before being taken on blue lights to Heartlands Hospital.”
