LEISURE centres across Solihull have had visits from more than 6,000 gym-goers in their first fortnight of opening.
Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and North Solihull Sports Centre, managed Everyone Active in partnership with Solihull Council welcomed people back on April 12 after three months of closure due to the UK wide lockdown.
In the latest stage of the Government’s four-step roadmap, centres were permitted to reopen with strict operational measures in place, including rigorous cleaning regimes and timed activity sessions.
Numbers through the doors show members were keen to get back in the gym, with 6,451 visits to the gyms across both centres so far – a 50 per cent increase on the 4,056 who attended during the same period following the first lockdown last summer.
The swimming pools have proven popular too, with 1,808 lane swimming sessions and 2,370 swimming lessons taking place already.
Wayne Desmond, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, commented: “The response we’ve received from our members has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We’re so pleased to see many new and returning members through our doors.
“Customer and colleague safety remains our number one priority and we hope The Everyone Pledge keeps our members confident in our commitment to keep them safe and active.
“We are also looking forward to being able to open even more facilities, such as our group exercise classes, in the next step of the Government road map.”
