MORE SILHILLIANS can apply to a scheme offering free home energy efficiency improvements.
Changes to the Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2) mean from April 1 households with a combined annual income of under £36,000 can apply – an increase of £5,000.
Eligible applicants must also be homeowner occupiers whose properties are not heated by mains gas boiler systems, and have an energy performance certificate (EPC) between D and G.
Those who qualify for the scheme will be offered a home survey to identify what improvements are suitable for their home to help cut energy costs, make their home warmer, and reduce their carbon footprint.
Homeowners could benefit from a range of solutions including insulation, solar panels, heating upgrades and more.
Energy advice charity Act On Energy is supporting Solihull Council on the HUG2 programme and is the main point of contact for enquiries and applications.
HUG2 is being delivered in Solihull through £1.7million of government funding.
Applications previously rejected under the last income threshold will automatically be re-assessed under the new threshold.
New HUG2 applications are open until March 2025.
